The human-made fragmentations of the landscape made me think about how we cut, block, and erase our natural spaces. The idea of "prospecting" is something that has come into my work over the years. This time I am thinking about the fragmentation that occurs as a result of seeking resources.

I started to think about how the fragmented landscape I saw while driving is a metaphor for Future, Present, and Past. From the driver's seat of the car, I have three views: the Future - out the front window, the Present - to the side, and the Past - in the rearview mirror.

For me, geometry has always represented the human-made. I started to think about how I could use mirrors to capture what is ahead of the viewer, and behind the viewer, or even above and below. To create this artwork I went out into the Nevada foothills and photographed mirrors in the desert. I then took the images back into the studio to create the work. Comprised of drawing, painting, and silver leaf and mirrored Mylar the artworks echo my experiences.
